HORSE FLOATS FOR SALE – EASILY GET YOUR CUSTOM BUILT DREAM FLOAT!
“Designed Precisely For You And Your Horses Needs”
The decision to buy a new float is an exciting one but shouldn’t be rushed into! There are many horse floats for sale which may appear to be a great buy. However there are several things you should consider if you are buying a new float. There may be many new floats on offer, but an incorrect decision can cost you more than dollars.
As consumers, we have never had so much choice. But so much choice can lead to confusion and poor decision making. A new float purchase will run into thousands of dollars. So it is handy to have an easy to remember process to follow when conducting your initial research. You can also apply this process to any purchase you make!
SOME IMPORTANT FACTORS WHEN
LOOKING AT HORSE FLOATS:
1. CONSIDER WHO YOU ARE BUYING FROM
Transporting horses can be stressful at the best of times. Only a “horse-person” can really understand how important the purchase of your new float is to both the safety and enjoyment for you and your horse. A knowledgeable horse person will guide you through the building process to ensure the best fit for your horse is achieved. There are many floats on the market and may be well built but have serious safety flaws for the horse.
2. BUY THE RIGHT FLOAT FOR YOUR HORSE
So often the wrong float is purchased for the wrong horse. Know your horse, how he travels and never try and save money by buying a float that is too small for him. Bad travellers are made, not born. Only a knowledgeable horse transport person can assist you in this area. Your seller’s website should contain plenty of information to help you make an informed decision, rather than try and sell you what they happen to have in stock. For angle load floats, make sure you measure your horse from nose to tail to get a good idea of his length. A long backed 15hh horse can be longer overall than a 16hh compact warmblood! So do some homework first.
3. UNDERSTAND THE MANUFACTURING PROCESS OF YOUR FLOAT
You can never ask too many questions of your builder. You should understand each stage of the manufacture process of your float. If the company is reluctant to answer your many questions, or appears to have a lack knowledge in this area, this should be a warning sign. YOU are the customer. If your calls or emails go unanswered, then walk away.
4. CONFIRM WARRANTY, GUARANTEES AND AFTER SALES SERVICE
Ask the manufacturer if they have any sales guarantees in place. This will give you peace of mind your purchase is risk free. If you are looking at horse floats for sale and are an Interstate buyer, ensure the company you are purchasing from has service and warranty support in your area. And all buyers should ensure there is a robust warranty. Should anything untoward occur with your float within a reasonable period of time, the seller should fulfill their obligations and cover any repairs.
5. DON’T LISTEN TO “FRIENDLY ADVICE” FROM THE WEB. GET THE FACTS FROM THE MANUFACTURER OR ACTUAL CUSTOMERS.
“Arm-chair” experts or those with “barrows to push” are nothing more than peddlers of misinformation. Forums and gossip are rarely based on fact. Get the facts from the people at the coal face and only then make your judgment. The best source of information will be customers of the float brand. Many will happily give their view of the product. Sometimes issues may arise with a product, and this in itself should not necessarily deter you. It’s how the issue was handled and procedures put in place to prevent a re-occurrence is also important.
6. ASK FOR REFERRALS
A company worth considering will have many personal references and repeat business from recommendations. Customers are only too happy to give feedback – both good and bad.
7. UNDERSTAND THE TOW CAPACITY OF BOTH YOUR CAR AND YOUR FLOAT
Never overload your car and ensure your car is fitted with an electric brake controller unit. Most cars have an un-braked tow capacity of only 750kg. Power is not the only consideration. You should also consider the suspension and transmission of your car. You may need to “beef up” the rear suspension with air bags or even a complete suspension upgrade. Plus your transmission may require upgrades such as a cooling unit.
Follow these simple steps and you’re sure to make a great float buying decision when looking at horse floats for sale!
